Hello all and a good day to you!
If you are reading this there is a high likelihood that you know me, in which case this first paragraph may be a little redundant. For those that don’t my name is Stuart Prey, and you are reading what is quite possibly my first blog post.
I never really thought of myself as someone that wanted to write ‘a blog’ but as I started to talk with more and more clients coming to Spokane I realized that many of them had the same questions. They wanted to know WHAT there was to do in Spokane, but even more deeply than that, they wanted to know WHY I thought they should do some of those things.
See, I had earned their trust already in helping them with the purchase of their home. I showed them that I was someone that loved my community, that loved the food that we had here, that loved the hiking trails, the golf, the river, the mountains. I think what they saw was someone who moved from outside the city (I am from the Wenatchee area originally) to a city they didn’t know, and fell in love with it.
And you know what I saw? I saw that I was giving the same pieces of advice over and over. I saw myself talking about the foodie scene. The courses I like to play. The movies I like to go see. I saw myself talking with them about the Children’s Hospital (heaven forbid they need it,) or volunteer opportunities with Vanessa Beehan. The excellent cardiac care they could get, or my favorite Trauma (ortho) surgeon who cared so much about his patients that he didn’t take care of himself always.
What they saw was the same as me, they saw that I love Spokane and that the city that we live in is so wonderful.
Then Jake Browne on my team and I had the chance to go and see a speaker talk to us about real estate. In this talk it made me feel good as so much of what I was doing were the things that the speaker told us about. Be genuine with your clients. Be kind to those in need. Listen to what they are telling you and truly want to help people. Don’t make it about the closing, but rather, the journey in getting there and making more and more friends.
He then brought up blogging, and how it helps those that might be on the fence see a bit more into the person who wrote it. It allows me (the writer) to share some of my own personal thoughts with you, and focus on what it is that I like and that I think you should know about. In talking about it with the Wise and Powerful Chelsea McFarland (my business partner for those that don’t know) she told me that she has only been trying to get me to do something like this for the last couple of years and that it was about time that I started to listen to her. (I am being tongue in cheek, those that know both Chelsea and I know how much better she is at this type of thing than me. :P)
So here is my commitment to you, and my challenge to my team. I will write a blog post twice a month and let Chelsea post it. Sometimes it will focus on the season and something going on in Spokane. Sometimes it will focus on a restaurant that I love and cherish and I want you all to know about. Sometimes it might just be about life, family, or something important enough that it speaks to me.
I have challenged Jake to do two a month as well as he is an avid sportsman and can talk about a side of Spokane that many know and love (and that I just would not do justice to, but I would still do better than Ben!) Chelsea will do the fill-in and hit on things that Jake and I don’t. She already takes care of all our marketing, our webpage, and all the other crazy stuff I think up, so she only has to do one.
My challenge to you is to read it. Comment. Let me know what you want to hear more about. Be real with us and let us know how we can serve you. I can’t guarantee that I am going to be able to do everything asked, but I will read them and take them all to heart.
Oh, and if you know anyone who wants to buy or sell, think about me and my team for that as well! <3
